Q: My download stops or won't download at all!!
A: Sometimes, other programs that are running/downloading in the background may keep you from downloading or slow your computer considerably. If you are having a time-out error, or your download just 'stops' without completing, something else may be taking up all your bandwidth - such as automatic updates, messenger, your antivirus software etc. If you turn these programs off - just long enough to complete your download - that may help. After your download is complete you can then turn everything back on. Also, if you try your download at off-peak times, such as early in the AM or late at night, your service may transfer faster.
Q: I downloaded my study guide, but it's an " .efw " file? What is that?!
A: Some anti-virus software programs will automatically change any .zip file that you download into a .efw file. You may need to rename the file extension back to " .zip " before you can open it. Locate the file you want to open; on the 'Tools' tab choose 'folder options', 'view files' then scroll down and uncheck 'hide extentions for known file types', click 'OK'. Next, right click on the file and choose 'properties'. Under the General tab you will see the name of the file. If the file name is "01 HDLS 1.efw" or something like that, type over the letters 'e f w' and name them 'z i p' . Your file should now be named '01 HDLS 1.zip', click 'OK'. Then go to your file, right click and extract!
Q: I've found an error or two in your material!
A: Please report all errors to us and we will correct them immediately! We try very hard to be as accurate as possible, but we are human and do make mistakes. We do apologize if there are errors and for your diligence in letting us know!
Q: I don't have Adobe reader!
A: You may download a free copy OpenOffice at OpenOffice.org, which will open any office document or spreadsheet, and a free copy of Adobe Reader from adobe.com. Just email with any problems opening the files and we will help you work through them!
Q: What's the difference between your eBay study guides and the ones sold here?
A: No difference! Ebay has a new policy on items that are considered 'digital delivery'. Those items must be listed in a 'Classified Ad' on eBay with a link or directions on how to purchase outside of eBay!
Q: What about other study material available on the web or eBay?
A: MOST eBay sellers are selling material that you can download absolutely free from other websites or material that is very old and not updated - even though they claim that it is. One seller sells only free downloaded powerpoints found at various college websites. We try very hard to keep everything up to date - we purchase the new textbooks as soon as they are available and review each study guide for content and make changes as necessary. If there are any major changes, all customers will be notified via email.
Q: I downloaded the .zip file but it won't 'extract'.
A: The files are 'zipped' using XP compression software, if this is not installed on your computer, you can download a free trial version of WinZip from WinZip.com or 7Zip form 7Zip.org (7Zip works well with Vista).
Q: When I try to open a file, I get an error message that says the file is corrupt or not decoded properly; the page looks like gibberish!
A: Most of the material is in Adobe .pdf format - usually these errors occur when another program tries to open a file that it is not set to open. Right click on the file you want to open - The pop up box will tell what type of file it is and what program is set by your computer to open that type of file. If the file is an Adobe file - the 'opens with' box should say Adobe Reader - if not you will need to use the drop down box and locate Adobe and set it to open this type of file.
Q: I have dial-up - can I still get a download?
A: Yes! Check the download size of the file you want to purchase. If larger than 3MB you may want to add a download accelerator to you programs. The accelerator will slightly increase the download speed and many are set to resume in case you lose connection. This way you won't have to start at the beginning each time you try to download the file. We don't recommend anything larger than 3MB for dial up as it can take 'days' to download! If you have access to another computer on high speed, you can download and transfer your file to a portable usb device also. Make sure to turn off all other running programs - even your antivirus software - until your download is complete.
If none of these items or suggestions helps, please email - We will get your study material to you somehow!
Good luck to all in their studies!
